Today, Ash got in the car after school and said, “Did you know Johnny Appleseed wore a pot on his head? And he died.”
Geez. Can’t we just leave that part out for the kindergartners and preschoolers? I think you should take this one on for CAC!

He has not yet sang me a song about Johnny Appleseed. I’m assuming they’re saving that for the first grade indoctrination. Sweet!

He’ll have Johnny memorized by second grade. Teachers love that guy- my coworkers forced John (Chapman) into units every stinkin’ year. The books always make the kids love him and they always mention he died at the end which kind of makes the whole cute story morbid since we don’t usually read books about dying to little kids. My son started preschool this year and just finished a unit on him. He knows Johnny wears a pot on his head and (of course) died.
I feel like this is inspiration for a Character Assassination…

Did she sing the song, too? Cuz from the song, I also happen to know that… Folks say Johnny’s apples are the best! and planted entire orchards on his way out west. That’s knowledge that sticks to you. 😀
